These crashes only happen when both disassembler.library and mmu.library
are installed in your 'libs:' drawer, but mmu.library setup is not
correct. In those cases, either set up your mmu.library environment
correctly (read the manuals), or delete/rename mmu.library, so that
disassembler.library cannot find it at startup.
   Charlene's note:
I use neither the disassembler.library nor the mmu.library. When using
either the first or second release of VZ 0.98, my machine crashes if I
try to run the program a second time.

03 May 2002 - Ottawa Celebrates The Canadian Tulip Festival
Today, the 50th Anniversary of our tulip festival begins. It runs from
May 3 to May 20, 2002. Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet of the
Netherlands will officially open the Tulipmania Exhibition in Major's
   Hill Park on May 10th.
Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and her husband Pieter van
Vollenhoven have accepted the Canadian government's invitation to
attend the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Canadian Tulip
Festival. The Princess will be in the National Capital Region as an
honorary attendee of the Festival during its second weekend, from
   May 9 to 12, 2002.
The relationship between the Princess Margriet and Canada's capital
is steeped in history and friendship. When Holland was captured by
the Nazis during World War II, members of the Dutch Royal Family
fled to safety in Ottawa. During this time, Princess Juliana (later
Queen) gave birth to daughter Margriet at the Ottawa Civic
Hospital. The Canadian government temporarily declared tdelivery
room a territory of the Netherlands so that Margriet could be born
a Dutch citizen. The Dutch flag was flown from the Peace Tower in
honour of the birth, the sole occasion on which a foreign flag has
ever been raised over the Parliament Buildings.
In 1945, Princess Juliana and her family returned to Holland. That
year, the people of Holland presented Ottawa with a gift of 100,000
tulip bulbs in appreciation of both the safe haven the Royal Family
had received in Canada and the pivotal role Canadian troops played
in the liberation of the Netherlands. In 1946, Princess Juliana
sent a personal gift of 20,000 tulip bulbs to Ottawa, the beginning
of a lifetime bequest. The Dutch Royal family continues to give
10,000 bulbs annually, matched every year by the International
Flowerbulb Centre of Holland. This annual Gift of Tulips comprises
an important and resonant component of the millions of tulips which
bloom in the National Capital Region each May.
   * A tribute to Veterans at the Canadian Tulip Festival
In honour of the liberation of the Netherlands by Canadian Troops in
May of 1945, the Netherlands will donate a monument, "The Man with Two
Hats," to the Canadian people. The official unveiling of the monument
will take place in the presence of HRH Princess Margriet on May 11 at
10:30 a.m. at Commissioners Park. The unveiling will be followed by the
christening of a special variety of tulip, to be called "The Canadian
   Liberator."

03 May 2002 - Today In History: "In Flanders Fields" Poem Was Written
In 1915, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, a Canadian army medical officer,
wrote the poem In Flanders Fields. McCrae's "In Flanders Fields" remains
to this day one of the most memorable war poems ever written. It is a
lasting legacy of the terrible battle in the Ypres salient in the spring
of 1915. For the full expose on Lt. Col. John McCrae's writing of this
poem, visit the above link at Arlington Cemetery.

WASHINGTON - Colin Powell, the U.S. Secretary of State, and a senior
U.S. senator unexpectedly paid tribute to Canada yesterday, lamenting
the loss of four Canadian troops in Afghanistan who were killed
   accidentally by a U.S. bomb.
"We have a lot to thank Canada for. They've always been there with
us," said Mr. Powell, testifying before the Senate Appropriations
Committee on Foreign Operations. "And I too, as do all Americans,
mourn the loss of those brave Canadian soldiers last week."
Earlier Senator Patrick Leahey, the committee's chairman and a Vermont
Democrat who lives an hour's drive from the Canadian border, also paid
tribute to the Canadians. (National Post Online)

19 February 2002 - Found FastMail.FM As An Alternative To My MailAndNews
Since MailAndNews is closing this coming February 28th, I was in the
market for a new web-based mail service. MailAndNews supplied some links
to check out, and from there I came across the FastMail.FM service run
from Australia. Prior to today they were in a test mode, where we were
fortunate enough to sign up and try the service out, before commiting any
money up front. It has been fast and reliable, with few gliches, and the
only real glitch I had in regards to tabs being converted to spaces (so
that any PGP signed letters were un-valideated), have been fixed. If you
are in need of an alternative mail program, check these people out. There
are a number of things missing that MailAndNews had, such as VoiceMail,
and being able to sign up for an account to use the MailandNews interface
to read mail from an existing POP3 or IMAP4 e-mail account on another
server. Those were things I truly am going to miss, but aside from that,
I have been well pleased with this new webmail service and support.
